Mullingar Athletic AFC reach LFA U19 Cup

Mullingar Athletic AFC U19`s secured their place in the final of the LFA U19 Cup with a 3-1 win in Wexford this afternoon.
The home side started the game strongest with several attempts on the Athletic goal one of which was deemed a penalty when the ball hit a Mullingar players hand in the box.
Bunclody went 1-0 despite Athletics Keeper going the right way and was very unlucky not to save.
Mullingar Athletic AFC however quickly settled after this and began to play in their usual style.
⚽️ Rian O`Farrell netted Athletics first from a corner which was initially defended by the home team but a scramble in the box saw marksman O`Farrell place the ball in the net.
⚽️ Athletics 2nd was also converted by Rian O`Farrell. An initial chance was defended by Bunclody but the clearance fell nicely and Rian powered the ball with his left foot into the net.
⚽️ The 3rd goal of the game came from Ryan Bitu who ran through several opposition players to score.
This was a superb all round team performance from the lads today and a well deserved win.
Congratulations to coaches Brendan, Stephen, Jay and the full squad of players who not only got the result today but were also great ambassadors for their club.
A very special thanks to Bunclody AFC for a great game and to their coaches and club officials for the hospitality shown to our club and players both during the week and on the match day
