Dominant Mullingar Athletic Senior Ladies See Off Willow Park.
Mullingar Athletic Ladies came away with another well deserved three points today after playing Willow Park away.
In a game that was a vital win for both sides, it was Mullingar who came out the more dominant side winning 3-0.
The first half saw Mullingar maintain the majority of possession and they created many passes of play and chances on goal. It was Dayna Muldarry who scored Athletics first goal after an intense attack on the Willow defence where the Mullingar midfielders put together a string of nice passes and set Muldarry up on goal.
The second half saw the battle continue between the two sides, with both sides eager to come away with a valuable win. Athletic`s second goal was worked from the back with a great kick from goalkeeper Avril Stafford Curley, which passed over the heads of the Willow defence. Niamh Farrell was ready to pounce and neatly slotted the ball past the keeper.
It was then Farrell who scored again to give Athletic their third goal, after a fine clearance from Athletic defender Carol Glennon, finding the foot of Andy Buckley, who then hit it on for Farrell to score the final goal of the match.
Today was a fantastic performance from the entire Mullingar Athletic squad, who all worked extremely hard and were focused and determined to continue their fight for the league title. From the goalkeeper, to the back line who were completely solid in defence, the midfielders who dominated across the pitch and the strikers who both put away goals, it was was an all round team performance, which the Ladies hope to continue to work on and to progress on from.
